hisashiburi green smoothie
- half a bunch of spinach
- 2 cups of water
- half a banana
- 20 grams Jay Robb’s whey protein in vanilla
- 1-2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal
- 1-2 tablespoons of heavy cream*
*mandatory for taste!
Bought my first protein powder this past week, fumbling around the GNC near my workplace and emerging finally with one I could actually carry home. Everything else was, like, barrel-sized. It’s a trial run before I order more online (off the list @restarts sent me :D). Still trying to work it into my daily regimen. In my coffee or green smoothie? On its own, mixed in water?
Struggling with emotional eating/binging still, but I’m relaxing the “all or nothing” mentality. Last night was one such night. Today I’m back at it though :)

protein, fat, and caffeine
That’s pretty much it. Protein/fat/caffeine diet.
It’s going well. Not exactly a crash diet but not sustainable either. I’ve never gotten to GW so I don’t even know what maintenance is like but if I do manage to hit, say, 120 this summer, I’ll start gradually adding in more fruit and other carbs.
Thing is, I’m highly dependent on the caffeine! Which I know is terrible. But with an exam and a move coming up (while still dabbling in some fandom writing) I have no motivation to try and tough it out cold turkey. Maybe in July?!
I’m sure most of my recent weight loss is water, but I weighed in under 125 today and on a good day my waist is nearing the 27” mark…! Starting to feel like I should measure in other places too because it would be nice to know if my arms/thighs/calves etc are changing too? But it’s kind of hard to reach some of them with the tape measure LOL
Missed three days of working out but finally made it to the basement today. Felt tired. Not eating much takes a toll on your physical strength. I know slow and steady wins the race but sometimes the waiting is what kicks you out of the race entirely. If I can continue at this rate I feel like the low 120s are not too far off!

2013 is 1/4 of the way done
and I still haven’t crossed off anything from this list, aside from “read more.” Neglecting this Tumblr is like the equivalent of neglecting my life. I don’t write when I have nothing I’m proud to write about. But things have been happening, externally at least: a recent promotion, a decision to move up to Boston. I’m finally down to 126 again (been hovering in the high 120s, low 130s the entire last month).
I don’t think it’ll be easy to shift back into the Get Fit/Healthy mentality instantly because it’s honestly kind of tolling, but I am watching what I eat. I guess lulls are part of the process too!

The one on the left is me exactly two years ago, and the one on the right is me taken from a week ago. Ignore the freaky lint right where my eye is!
I’m 5’5. The number hasn’t changed that much, but I can notice a lot in my toning. I work out 5-6 days a week (nothing special; half an hour bike one day, maybe zumba the next). I’m coffee obsessed and I drink a lot of water. I eat a lot of fruit and the rest is protein and carbs (not purposely to exclude any food it’s just that’s the way it is!) I’m not going to give you some BS advice because let’s be honest, we all want the easy way of doing something — but we also want to practice our will power and have integrity. So here’s what I think:
We’ll always want two things:
#1- that temporary fix (chocolate/chips/etc)
#2- that long term fix (hot body)
What if you die tomorrow? Your family and friends won’t love you any less if you’re 10-20 pounds overweight. Yolo right? ugh I hate that word ahaha but it makes sense, you should eat what makes you happy in the moment. BUT you most likely won’t die tomorrow so you want to make sure you only have a little of #1, to get to #2. Does that make sense? Have your cake and eat it too! (Have your #1, but only a little so you can have your #2!) For this though you actually need to remember that it takes time and it’s different for everyone, but this whole 1 & 2 thing resonated with me. Hope I helped someone out there! Follow me for tips and tricks and cool pics!

water?
I skipped dinner and went to bed early last night and woke up this morning with a 27-inch waist.
